: : : : : Every year it goes unoticed by so many people--including fans! They need a website or something. I don't see why the News Tribune could not run a story about it.
: : : : because it's not that important. It's an exchange program. japan puts up a good team but so many of our best players don't go because they are busy with their summer teams.
: : :
: : : wow, you must not have made the japan team and so now you are bitter. it is so important that players actually take time off of their summer team to participate. maybe you should crawl out of your hole in tacoma and actually see that there is a bigger wider world out there than the one you live in
: : Ehemmmmm, In know of several players, all-league, all-state, etc. who opted not to go to Japan. They weren't hiding in some "hole in Tacoma", they've been playing in Arizona, California, Florida, for the Mariners, BBNW,Perfect Game, etc. They just figured there's enough good baseball in the NW they didn't need to spend another $500 or all the time to go to Japan. Some who did go and came back said they'd never do it again and wouldn't recommend it. Those guys who are still going in August might have a different point of view. The ones I'm aware of on the Pierce County team are average players looking for an opportunity.
: : Tell me who the Studs are that are going or who have gone and maybe I'll reconsider.
: bbfan,
: You obviously know nothing about the Sister Cities Baseball Exchange program and WHY players go. It's not about who is necessarily the best player(s) or "STUDS". And of course, those that have been there wouldn't go again. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for some, who will probably never play college ball, but who have the skills and character to go to Japan as Ambassadors of Tacoma/Pierce County. And NO, I am not on the staff.

You are right. It's not about the best baseball. It's a baseball foriegn exchange program. Not knocking it just trying to put it in the right perspective. You were right when you said it is for players who probably won't play college ball. Some will. It just seems from year to year that guys want to make these games out to be about great baseball. It's probably great for those who participate. And it is a once in a life time deal. I can live with that.
