DREAM FIELD

New Baseball & Fastpitch Fields for Tacoma & Fife

The Requirement
There is a significant shortage of baseball fields in Tacoma.  With the tremendous resurgent of  baseball and fastpitch in the Northwest, Tacoma's participation is tempered by facilities. Other NW cities has seen growth in new leagues and teams that includes semipro, adult recreational baseball  (37+, 27+, 18+ age groups)  youth teams and girls fastpitch.  Of Tacoma’s five public high schools only two have fields that can be used for games. Stadium High school does not even have a practice field. They travel to public parks several miles away.  City summer teams use fields as far away as Auburn and several teams do not play because of the lack of facilities in the area. Since the high schools switched to fastpitch three years ago there is now a demand for adult women's fastpitch fields.

The Idea
Build a baseball/softball complex in the Tacoma Tide flats area.  It would be used by Stadium, Lincoln and Fife high schools for baseball and softball games.   In the summer it would be used by numerous baseball and softball teams for league and tournaments.  Let's revive Tacoma's rich baseball heritage, remember when the Studs played in Tacoma not Seattle?
